Forward Deployed Engineer
About the company
Our client is a Series B computer-vision company that puts physical AI on factory floors for Fortune 100 manufacturers. Founded in 2019 and around 70 people, their platform is used to build, deploy and monitor vision models in real production environments — not demos. The customer base is concentrated in manufacturing, logistics, automotive and robotics.
The role
This is a genuine forward-deployed seat, not pre-sales and not a support queue. You own a customer's deployment end-to-end: the 0→1 build, getting it adopted on the floor, and keeping it healthy afterwards. You'll be on-site with customers roughly 40–50% of the time, and in the same week you might be talking to executives, engineers and floor operators. The seat is revenue-oriented — the comp band includes an uncapped variable component.
What you'll do
- Own full technical deployments end-to-end — 0→1 build through customer adoption and post-deployment maintenance
- Sit in the room with customers and drive the technical relationship yourself
- Ship computer-vision systems into real physical production environments
- Work close to the systems layer — Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux and networking
- Travel 40–50% of the time to customer sites, concentrated in the Midwest
