About the company

Our client is a fast-growing, YC-backed voice-AI company in the Bay Area. Their AI voice agents handle the sales, support and logistics calls that used to need large teams of human agents, and thousands of companies now run on them. The company has scaled fast on a small team, and their 2026 plan is a full customer-experience platform where AI workers act as frontline agents, QA analysts and managers rather than simple call automation.

The role

This is the company's first product design hire, and it is a genuine 0-to-1 seat. You would own the product experience end to end, from early concept through to polished, shipped features, and set the standard for how people interact with AI voice agents. You would work directly alongside engineers and the founders, run your own customer interviews, and build the design system from scratch. Taste matters here as much as process: the team is explicit that they ship work they are proud to show the world, even when that takes longer.

What you'll do

Own the product experience end to end, from early concepts to polished, shipped features
Shape how users interact with AI voice agents, turning complex workflows into intuitive experiences
Work side by side with engineers and the founders to define, refine and ship
Run customer interviews and turn user pain points into design solutions
Build and evolve the design system, setting the bar for consistency and craft

What we're looking for

These are hard requirements. Check each one that applies to you.

5+ years as a product designer at an established tech company or a B2B SaaS company
I can show shipped product work end to end — not just concepts, redesigns or mockups that never launched
Strong product taste and a real sense of usability, with a portfolio that demonstrates both
I'm comfortable being the first and only designer, with no design team or existing system to inherit
I want to work on-site in Redwood City, CA five days a week
I'm already in the United States and either need no sponsorship or need only a transfer — this client cannot file a new H-1B
I thrive in a fast, intense startup environment — this team moves and changes quickly and is explicit that it is not for everyone

Compensation & logistics

$180k–$230k base + competitive equity
On-site in Redwood City, CA — this is an in-office role, not hybrid or remote
Open to visa transfers: sponsorship is available for H1B/H-1B transfers, TN, L-1, E-3, F-1 (OPT/CPT) and O-1 visas. No new H-1Bs at this time
