Software Engineer, Distributed Systems (Core)
About the company
Our client is a late-stage B2B data platform — founded in 2018, roughly 350 people, Series D+ — whose core systems move and activate enormous volumes of customer data every day for enterprise marketing, sales, and analytics teams. The work sits squarely in distributed-systems territory: event collection, streaming pipelines, and sync engines running at terabyte-per-day scale.
The role
This is a core distributed-systems role on the backend infrastructure team — deliberately not a full-stack, data-engineering, or DevOps role. You'll own the systems that ingest, move, and sync data reliably at scale: the layer everything else in the product depends on. The team is looking for engineers who have watched systems grow by orders of magnitude and carried them through it.
What you'll do
- Design and own event collection and data streaming services that power business-critical systems
- Build and scale data sync engines that process and move terabytes of data per day
- Work close to the infrastructure layer — message queues, streaming frameworks, container orchestration
- Carry systems through orders-of-magnitude growth and re-architect them as they go
- Raise the systems-design bar across a large, fast-moving engineering organisation

Submit Your InfoNice to have
- You've built data sync engines that move terabytes per day in a scalable way
- You know how the tools themselves are built — Spark, Flink, Kafka internals, not just their APIs
- Experience at a company that scaled from Series A through Series E
Tech stack
Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Docker, with SQL databases underneath — heavy emphasis on message queues and streaming infrastructure.
