About the company

Our client is a fast-growing New York fintech building AI-powered business banking — banking and cash management for companies that sell physical goods, typically doing between $5M and $200M in sales. They have raised a $35M Series A on around $42M total, serve 250+ customers representing over $1B in volume, and are about 35 people drawn largely from well-known commerce and fintech companies. The pitch they lead with is that AI turns the finance back office from a cost centre into something that actually earns its keep.

The role

You would join as a senior full-stack IC on a small engineering team, owning core systems end to end rather than a narrow slice of one. The work spans the whole stack — Kotlin services on Google Cloud behind a TypeScript and React front end, with PostgreSQL underneath — and it sits close to real money movement, so API design, careful debugging and tests you actually trust matter more here than raw feature velocity. The team is small enough that judgment about when to ship and when to refactor is yours to exercise.

What you'll do

Own core banking and cash-management systems end to end, from design through production
Build across the stack — Kotlin services on Google Cloud, TypeScript and React on the front end, PostgreSQL underneath
Design and evolve APIs that other teams and customers depend on
Debug genuinely complex systems where correctness around money is non-negotiable
Lead a technically challenging, cross-functional project from scoping to shipping to iterating on feedback

What we're looking for

I can work on-site 5 days a week in New York City (NoHo) or Toronto — the client's only stated dealbreaker. Toronto means Toronto; Vancouver, Montreal and Seattle are not substitutes
Kotlin and Google Cloud both evidenced in production work — a skills tag is not enough; it needs to be a role whose actual work was Kotlin and GCP
5+ years of full-stack engineering shipping both sides — TypeScript and React in front, PostgreSQL-backed services behind
One technically challenging, cross-functional project I led end to end — scoped, built, tested, shipped, and iterated on real feedback
I've owned a core system on a small or early-stage team, rather than a narrow slice of a large one
I'm authorised to work in the US or Canada, or eligible for an H1B or TN transfer — this client does not sponsor new visas
