About the company
Our client is a Series A, mission-driven pediatric mental health company in New York that offers online therapy and support for children and their families. Founded in 2023 and backed by $16M, the team is about fifteen people. It reaches families through pediatric practices, health systems, schools and community organisations rather than through paid advertising, and it is live in six states today with a plan to be in more than ten. The company grew out of a simple problem: families who need care for a child wait far too long to find it, and the referral routes that already exist — the paediatrician, the school counsellor, the local clinic — are the fastest way to shorten that wait.
The role
You would be the first senior go-to-market hire, designing the field strategy from scratch and then running it: territory structure, targets, playbook and the referral-partner pipeline across pediatric practices, health systems, schools, universities and employers. You own every growth channel that is not marketing spend, with aggressive referral and partner targets. There are three regional field representatives today across several states, and you would manage and scale that team while still selling personally — launching and proving a new market yourself before handing it over. You would also represent the company externally at conferences and with provider and health-system leaders, and build the reporting, forecasting and pipeline infrastructure the company needs as it expands. This is a builder's seat reporting into the CEO, not a strategy seat: the client has been explicit that it wants sales-driven growth rather than growth marketing.
What you'll do
- Design the field go-to-market strategy from scratch — team structure, territories, targets and the playbook for pediatric practices, health systems, schools and community organisations
- Own every growth channel that is not marketing spend, against aggressive referral and partner acquisition targets
- Manage and scale the regional field sales team, three representatives today and growing across multiple states
- Personally launch and prove new markets before scaling them
- Build a national referral-partner pipeline across pediatric practices, health systems, schools, universities and employers
- Represent the company externally at conferences and with provider and health-system leaders
- Build the reporting, forecasting and pipeline infrastructure for an expansion into ten or more states
Nice to have
- Healthcare, health tech, or another field-sales-driven industry — ideally selling to pediatric practices, health systems or schools
- A consulting or finance background earlier in your career
- Rapid career progression or clear top-performer signals in a sales organisation
- Experience standing up reporting and forecasting infrastructure for a young sales team
Tech stack
A CRM at the centre — Salesforce or HubSpot — with sales engagement tooling, pipeline and forecasting tools, BI tools for reporting, and Google Workspace or Microsoft Office around them. Part of the job is deciding what this stack should actually be as the team grows past its first few representatives.
Compensation & logistics
- $170k–$220k base plus equity, with some flexibility for exceptional candidates
- On-site in New York five days a week, with relocation support available
- The client cannot sponsor a visa, so you need to be legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship now or in the future
- Expect travel to conferences, community events and partner meetings across several states
- One hire on this role, managing three regional field representatives today
- Interview process: a 45-minute hiring-manager interview on building and scaling sales, a 30-minute conversation with the co-founder and CEO, then a one-hour written case study on building the non-paid growth engine, presented to both
- Full-time
