About the company

Our client builds the reinforcement learning environments and trajectory datasets that leading AI research labs use to push model capabilities. Founded in 2024, the company has raised $25M (most recently a Series A) and already counts several of the top AI labs as paying customers. The team is about 12 people, with backgrounds at well-known technology companies, and is moving into a new office in Flatiron, Manhattan.

The role

You would join as a fast-moving generalist who bridges the gap between the company's platform and what frontier AI lab customers need. The work is ad hoc and on tight timelines at the cutting edge of post-training and agent research: shaping data, spinning up dashboards, handcrafting reinforcement learning tasks and building quick features, then spotting which one-off builds deserve to become part of the core platform. You ship deliverables to researchers at frontier labs, not speculative tooling. The client is hiring three people into this role and wants to move quickly.

What you'll do

  • Shape data created by human experts to fit the specific requirements of frontier AI lab customers
  • Build quick plugins, features or temporary improvements to existing data-collection systems
  • Handcraft reinforcement learning task samples tailored to customer needs
  • Spin up customer-facing interfaces such as dashboards and portals on short timelines
  • Identify when one-off custom builds should be generalized into the core platform

Nice to have

  • Experience with evals, task design or LLM-judged scoring

Tech stack

TypeScript, Python and Go on AWS.

Compensation & logistics

  • $200k–$280k base, plus competitive equity
  • 100% of medical, dental and vision covered, a $30 daily meal stipend and unlimited PTO
  • On-site in the Flatiron office in Manhattan five days a week — this is not a remote role. Relocation support of up to $10k is available
  • Open to candidates who need no sponsorship, visa transfers and new visa sponsorships
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in full-stack software engineering in fast-paced environments
